The Site:
Nestled in the vibrant community of Shasha, Iperu, the Social Development Institute stands as a beacon of learning and grassroots transformation. This serene yet dynamic site offers the perfect setting for VWAN’s 7-day workcamp, blending accessibility with a spirit of community engagement. Located in Shagamu, a historic town in Ogun State, the site connects volunteers to both urban and rural perspectives, enriching intercultural dialogue. Shasha’s warm hospitality and collaborative spirit create an ideal environment for hands-on projects and meaningful exchanges. The institute’s focus on social development aligns seamlessly with our mission to promote peace, volunteering, and human rights.
Objectives:
Facilitate workshops and activities that bridge cultural, ethnic, and religious divides among participants and the Shagamu community, Create safe spaces for open dialogue, storytelling, and collaborative problem-solving, Inspire long-term civic engagement by showcasing the impact of collective action, Train volunteers and community members on SCI (Service Civil International) values and tools to protect and promote rights locally and to Equip young participants with leadership skills to design and advocate for community-led initiatives.

Volunteer Benefits
Accommodation, meals and participation in all events of the workshop are provided by the organizers of the workshop. Travel expenses from the place of your residence to Ogun State and back are to be covered by participants themselves or by the organization they represent. The official dates of arrival: 25th July, 2025. The date of departure: 27th of July, 2025.
Volunteer Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the workcamp, candidate must be a youth at the age of 18-35. Furthermore, they must be involved in volunteering activities in their state or country.
