Location: Oke Idanre (Idanre Hill), Ondo State, Nigeria

Expected Participants: 15 People

Cost: ₦20,000 (T-shirt, Feeding, Accommodation and other Kits)


The Site:

Oke Idanre hill consists of high plain with spectacular valleys interspersed with inselbergs of about 3,000 ft above sea level. Its physical attributes include Owa's Palace, Shrines, Old Court, Belfry, Agbooogun foot print, thunder water (Omi Aopara) and burial mounds and grounds. It also has diverse and variegated eco-systems of flora and fauna. Oke Idanre contains very important bio-physical and land form features whose interaction with the physical features created an enduring cultural landscape within the setting.


Objectives:

The project aims to engage local and international volunteers in promoting, protecting, and preserving Idanre Hills by involving them in conservation activities, facilitating learning about the site's cultural value, and raising awareness among the youth and local community about the importance of World Heritage.


Activities:

The volunteers will construct chairs and waste separation bins on the site using traditional construction techniques and materials consistent with the site’s identity; they will organise awareness-raising activities among local youth and communities to engage them in the preservation of the One Idanre heritage.
